Simon Wong Engineering’s internship program provides an ideal opportunity for students to gain experience relevant to their academic and career goals. Our current interns tell us that what they like most about Simon Wong Engineering is the opportunity to bridge the gap between formal learning and the real world.
Goals for the internship program include the following:
• To expose students to the “real world”—the everyday workings of professional engineering—and help them understand how their education will be applied.
• To establish long-term relationships within the engineering industry.
• To provide opportunity for students to apply their education to real projects.
• To familiarize students with common computer programs and design procedures that may not be emphasized in school.
Methods for achieving these goals include the following:
• Each intern is assigned to a designated senior engineer prior to the hiring process. The engineer is responsible for supervising the intern’s personal program, providing daily oversight, and periodically reviewing goals with the intern.
• Interns will attend professional association meetings.
• Interns will visit job sites.
• Interns will attend in-house training opportunities and technical lunches.
• Interns will attend team and project meetings as appropriate (to meet other professionals and observe management techniques).
Interns typically work part-time while school is in session. Hours are flexible to accommodate school class schedules. Full-time work is available during school breaks.
We have many employees who started at Simon Wong Engineering right out of school, therefore, your internship could lead to a challenging and rewarding career here.
